TESTIMONIALS

"Nick carried out a very comprehensive full survey on a Sadler 29 I was in the process of buying. He was highly professional and diligent. The telephone call and summary of issues prior to his full written report were very helpful, as were the early emails of relevant photos relating to the more significant issues. His experience and expertise were obvious throughout the process. His report was done in good time and was very well illustrated with high quality photos. The recommendations were clear and usefully ranked. Most impressive all round, and very worthwhile indeed. I would recommend him to anyone."

Jim Bennett, new owner of Sadler 29, 06 June 2019

"We asked Nick to complete a pre-survey inspection of a boat we were interested in. Nick very quickly saw the potential problems with the boat and we were able to save time and money in travelling to look ourselves. This is a really useful service if you are distant from a boat that you are interested in.  Nick has subsequently completed a full pre-purchase survey of another boat for us. He was prompt, informative and professional throughout the process. He was not happy with a particular aspect of the boat and went on to make extensive enquiries on our behalf with manufacturers and area specific engineers. This was done over a bank holiday weekend and his tenacity, professionalism and contacts enabled us to not only complete the sale, but arrange a local fix to a complex problem. We are delighted with Nick's service. You will be too. Cannot recommend Nick highly enough."

"Being new to boating, having chosen Nick to undertake a pre-purchase survey of our prospective boat was a very good decision. Nick came with a pleasant approach to the survey and throughout the survey, his wealth of experience and knowledge was enthusiastically passed on to us as we asked him various queries relating to the survey and boating in general. By the end of the survey we felt that Nick had comprehensively examined the boat combined with offering advice which enabled us to make an informed decision to proceed with the purchase. The quality of the report was excellent in that it was well written without acronyms or jargon and all recommendations were well presented and clearly understood.  In summary, we would have no hesitation in recommending Nick and wish him all the best for the future - thank you Nick".

"I’ve been immensely impressed by your professionalism and responsiveness. Your report is thorough and to the point without labouring your findings and padding things out! With your photographs and verbal explanation I now have a really good understanding of the issues with the boat".

“Just wanted to say a massive thank you for all your help with the purchase of my new Nicholson 35. I wouldn’t have been in a position to purchase this boat were it not for your straightforward and practical advice. Great service – I would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for a pragmatic and knowledgeable surveyor. Will definitely be keeping in touch!"

"Nick's gone out of his way to help, been very flexible and generous in his approach, very willing to spend significant time discussing the conclusions (nearly an hour this evening), and twice produced me good detailed surveys that I feel I can trust, and at a very competitive price. Highly recommended!"

"I spent the day with Nick Vass yesterday surveying the new boat. He is very thorough and conscientious with lots of experience. Being with him meant I had the perfect opportunity to explore and learn about the systems aboard, which are considerably more complex than on my old boat. A very worthwhile exercise and I would recommend his services, particularly the fact that he encourages owners to attend and is a very personable character".

Terry, a new owner of a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 45

“Nick has a very impressive knowledge of boats and a practical, down-to-earth approach which means he's a great advisor on all matters relating to both sail and power boats. He also has tremendous network of contacts that he uses to solve issues and get things done - he's a great person to have on your team!”

"Nick has looked after the coding on Weohgi (Westerly Conway) for some years and I cannot speak too highly of him. He is very responsive, has spent time beyond the call of duty in advising me of the intricacies of preparing for coding and has been diligent in overseeing and managing the complete process. Weohgi is a safer boat and I am a more knowledgeable owner as a result of Nick’s care and attention and so long as he remains in practice I will continue to ask him to look after Weohgi. Just one example of many in which he has been a diligent and perceptive adviser was in discovering that my lifejacket lights would only work if submerged which he tracked down to a defective British Standard and his intervention led to the manufacturer replacing all my lights with an upgraded design free of charge."

Geoffrey Mills, owner of "Weohgi", Westerly Conway, Port Solent

"Many thanks once again for your prompt service and attention to detail. I found the survey for Spectrum very thorough and interesing. I am looking forward to putting the few issues right and getting Spectrum afloat".

Nigel, owner of "Spectrum", Botnia Targa 25

"Thank you for a most professional survey and report. It has been a pleasure to meet you. Most appreciative or your tips and excellent advice."

John, owner of Biscay 36 (insurance survey)

“Nick surveyed a boat for me with professionalism and thoroughness. Despite the adverse weather, he was prepared to go ahead with the survey and produced a relevant and timely report. This helped me considerably in the final negotiation process. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who requires the services of a competent, reliable and personable yacht surveyor.”

“Nick is without doubt the most helpful and knowledgeable boat surveyor I have met over the years. In addition, he is generous with his time and advice, helping to take the stress out of boat buying.”

"Nick conducted for me a pre-purchase, condition, valuation and insurance report on a 20-year old sailing craft. Having not owned such a craft for many years and being somewhat “rusty” as to what to look for, I needed a thorough survey by someone who could not only report to me any problems, but also clarify the implications of these. I was given as much detail as I required and the urgency of any issues found were put into chronological order as to when they needed to be addressed. Tasks were categorised into what could be done by an owner of my practical experience and what needed specialist attention. Health & Safety issues were covered in great detail, and where necessary modifications were recommended. All my questions were answered without hesitation as best as they could be on the evidence available. The time spent on the survey was not hurried and the surveyor’s aim seemed to be to give the best possible support to the client.  The marine surveyor was a keen and experienced yachtsman who displayed a comforting enthusiasm, which made me view the potential purchase of the craft positively and accurately. This enabled me to negotiate a fair purchase price based on clear, in-depth and irrefutable evidence, providing what I consider to amount to a “win–win” situation between purchaser and vendor.  Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation in employing Omega Yacht Services if a similar requirement for a survey, advice or other services offered by the Company arose in the future."
